The Uterus Cordiformus! by David GarnerGood Evening, Ladies and Gentlemen
and welcome to The Uterus Cordiformus!--
otherwise known as the Heart-Shaped Womb.
Some mothers have them.
Like mine.
See the heart shape!
See the cordiform!
See the blood!
See the love!
Either in the real shape of the real human heart.
Or, in candy box and Valentine form.
Somehow I think my mother's is a cross.
Not a cross + .
But a cross between.
A cross between the real with a cross between a dream.
I invite you to return with me to the place of my conception:
This sea of blood.
This sea of love.

| Posted by Alison McKenzie on 01/25/08 at 06:36 PM I'm not sure I really wanted to go there, but since I did, I have to say it was an intersting journey. |

| Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 01/28/08 at 06:36 AM The original speaker of this poem really makes it unusual. It has the feel of a jovial announcer outside of a circus tent-- pull back the curtain, enter in, see the "place of my conception" the "heart shaped womb"-- A cross between dreamy and outright odd... there's an endearing outrageousness here, as well as a bold forthwrightness... especially as your birthday approaches!! |
