Oklahoma

by David Garner

I
want more
more not less
of you
you

you
can have
more of me
me for
you

you
my earth
red rock dream
rose rock
you

I
need this
this not that
of you
you

you
can bring
more of you
you for
me

you
scissor-tailed
flycatcher
catch me
you

you
flower of
mistletoe
hang me
you

A very personal feel to this poem. The state's "Red Rock" (town, canyon) is the "dream" at its heart. The Oklahoma state bird and "flower" are featured in subtle ways, woven like a nest into the verse. Beautiful echoing, especially of "you". Love and a feeling of the "source" of love and experience feels nestled here too.
