'Sorry' Doesn't Mean Squat by Genevieve Sturrockforgiveness
doesn't mean
pretending
no harm was done
forgiveness
is accepting
the pain and
forging ahead
much like
a deep wound
which leaves
a scar
there will
always be
an ugly
reminder
of the
suffering
but a scar
is just
a mark
and, in time,
will fade
beyond
obvious
notice
so too will
forgiveness
minimize
the damage
with enough
passage

| Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 01/09/08 at 05:53 PM Very interesting title in realation to the poem. It is very "to the point" and sarcastic even, as opposed to the philisophical nature of the verse. It gives the sense that (perhaps) the "sorry" given was not quite a considered, philisophical one, but one "on automatic".... which is a different thing... then the demonstation of the difference between seriously considered and weathered forgiveness, and an off-handed "sorry" is shown... at least this is something I feel here, and appreciate. |

Great write. It's full of emtions. Yeah, it's easier to forgive, than it is to forget. It is better to forgive, than to keep it all in. It depends on the situation too. So, it won't eat ya up inside. |
