Like Always

by Alisa Js

you speak of her
and I could just spit
thoÂ’ I say nothing
stare straight ahead
just like always
with this stoicism I learned from the best

inwardly
IÂ’m thinking
how dare you!
you bastard!
you havenÂ’t a clue or do you Â…

realizing itÂ’s a crap shoot
IÂ’ve got nothing to lose
no where to go, nothing to do

and we find ourselves amused
like always
we skate around the elephant in the room
nothing new
with something like ice cubes on crocodile sticks Â…

I love that lasy stanza with:
we skate around the elephant in the room
nothing new
with something like ice cubes on crocodile sticks …
Nice imagery on a sad situation!

A very strong entry well worth the read. I especially like the double meaning of crap shoot and how it applies to the subject.
