Insomniatic Love

by Genevieve Sturrock

11:30
passionate heat
envelopes us
time stops
as night slides
to morning

12:00
sleep falls
over us
limp and
exhausted
as today
embraces
tomorrow

12:30
my eyes open
sleep slips away
my hands jumpy
itching to work
i get up
so as not
to disturb
as dark
deepens
and light
is a but
distant
future

1:00
bleary eyed
stumbling
falling
beside me
your body
presses mine
shoulder arm thigh
warmth on my right
as coldness seeps
in from the left

1:30
my mind awake
but empty
my hands work
furiously creating
listening to
your soft breathing
as you sleep
upright
on the sofa
beside me
your hand
on my thigh
as i await
the light
of day

He's a better husband than me, then. I just go to bed :) A good read.
