The Walk

by Alisa Js

he walked with her past the depths of their dejection
until they arrived at the impasse,
curious, they paused for reflection
at the portal, unchanged
that gateway still visible

one question surrounded this scene
would they step forward
or simply meander,
convene or conjecture
remember to forget
presumption of innocence
that brought them to this place,
unseen …

in the still of the night
when the wounds ceased to shiver
a silence moved across
stopped short,
and lingered

the entryway opened
and stood there, slightly ajar
streamed in resplendent, breathtaking
nerve bending
soul stripping
dare we ?

Whew! It's like a scene in a film noir movie...and I'm holding my breath awaiting their(your) decision...nicely done! MFS
