Real Lovers

by Alisa Js

I lingered longer than I should have, I know
But I just couldn’t turn away …

Watching them, I could so easily see
How they blew away the lies
We’re accustomed to believe
Such horrid and malicious tales
About those with children and decades between them

‘How courtesy forgets’
‘Romance fades’
‘Tenderness takes a back seat’

He reached over and squeezed her small hand without a word
She leaned nearer and smiled,
They knew what that meant
So familiar they were with each private nuance
I felt like an intruder and left …

Renewed once again,
My faith in romance and love …

It is not an easy thing to keep the flame of romance burning for many many years. You have captured the essence of commitment and the deep love that can accompany it.

... when love need not be spoken for it is there 'nei piccoli gesti' speaking in ones tiniest actions that exude its wonder ...
