disappeared into the ether
or underground, I don't know which
nowhere to be found
or felt as before,
when we were 'us' as one ...

I think this time you have vanished, completely
a vapor, dissipated
into fragmented thoughts and scattered dreams
of how it used to be when we shared and planned our destiny,
a million years ago ...

images of you, your smiling face
my longing heart
at just the sound
a word,
a phrase ...

which brings to mind the endless questions
rhetorical, of course
when is it carved in stone
and not simply brushed across shifting sands
a passing flame of the night wind
fueled by lonely souls,
desperate for anything that feels right ...
