Noteworthy by David Garner
When I turned into the driveway,
warm light from the living room
simmered and hummed from within.
When I got inside,
I looked for a note from you
telling me it was okay
and not to worry.
But no note was to be found.
Maybe it's not okay.
Maybe I should worry.
So I look around again for your note.
Everywhere.
And then I found it.
Leaving the light on for me was your note.

| Posted by Kathleen Wilson on 11/21/07 at 10:11 PM Very interesting and again, breathtaking. We approach, it is a familiar feeling, the warm light from within, we identify, look with you, wait, watch, and then... we wonder. Are relieved? Is the light on the sign of love? At least a sign of caring... or is there a note that is a light? There is a bit of mystery, appropriate to this singular entrance. |

The warmth of the light gives an indication someone else is there, but the empty house, with no note, feels sad. A wonderful emotional poem. (psst, blame Kathy Wilson for helping me to discover your poems.) ;-)
