So Over You

by David Garner

so glad
your mother's hatred
and your father's drinking
conceived a dark black seed

alone in darkness
her baggage and his vodka
clawed their way
through centipedes of anguish
and red raw climax

not to satisfy a pleasure
but rather prove a point
that they best conceive
a shifty cancer
rather than a void

he pumps his eighty proof
into her vessel of disdain
they writhe in hip bone bruises
and fat back abrasions

until his drunken swimmer
breaks her loathing omelet
they combine their ill-bred traditions
both genetic and detected they produce

their sole dark black seed
poppy-like, sesamous, carum carvi in its likeness

whew -- what a disappointment this person --was...and surely deserves the imagery (in a way), because it turns out to be such a deeply universal, dark, intense poem...she might not deserve such a good poem! but still it's good you wrote it. really intense and darkly intimate ... and... it has eggs!

Beautiful imagery. I'd surely hate to cross you. -Nanette
