Those Forgotten Ones

by Alisa Js

Sad eyes under dirty faces
Tell the tale of misbegotten woes
And forgotten cares of those who should
Be there for those little ones
Innocent,
Not to blame
They’re only young, maybe three at most
If not four …

Look at how they sit away
Watching as the others jump around
In that playground full of laughs and smiles
But not a one belongs to them,
Who sit with tattered clothing there
Shoes that flap, socks that run
Who let those children out like that?
Does anybody really care?

And the parents, where are they?
What’s the story no one dares to say,
Yet glares each time we sneak a peak at those
Little ones with their broken hearts
Bleeding on their sleeves,
Just take a look with me …

Author's Note: ...the first line is such an awesome line.... I saw in Gabriel Ricard's poem, 'washing machine'... it is so hauntingly poignant and inspired this one....thanks Gabriel...;-0

...alisaJs, the question is pregnant...how can anyone (w/ a heart) turn away from need...my daughter at 6 (a hundred years ago) saw a homeless lady and with sad-puppy dog eyes she looked at me and said, 'daddy, that's so sad!'...great hurtful write...great...peace,chaz

Hi Alisa, Great write. It's very powerful and very emtional. Yes, it is sad. It could be the parents can't afford much, or too many kids to but much. Or in some cases, they just don't care, cause of drugs and drinking. It's heartbreaking, but it does happen.

They have many kids and can't afford to buy much. Or the main job is lost.
