Sweet Dreams
by Alisa Jsand I watch as you lay there, so peacefully
careful as not to alarm
your night scenes and visions
on this cool winter's eve ...
I pull back the blanket so carefully
and tenderly brush back your hair,
you look so beautiful there, sleeping
I wonder if your dreams include me,
as I lay down beside you
and observe ...
you won't know I've been here
I'll be careful,
not to disturb
shhh! not a sound will I make ...
I stopped by for a visit
just to say hello,
just to let you know I care
a kiss on your eyelids for good measure
before I depart,
before you awake ...
thank you for just being you
your comfort brings joy to this weary soul
your wisdom and humor provide sweet release
from gusty clouds of late,
and rain storms full of thunder
relief from my pain
my night shade,
you welcome me here...
