Willow Wisp

by Alisa Js

Oh! Willow wisp, won’t you sing for me?
The song of this aching heart,
One filled with roses if you please
Maybe gardenias will do,
Fragrant blossoms, let them fill my view
So lonely I won’t be tonight
And maybe, just maybe I can get some sleep
Oh! Willow wisp, bring to me…

Tell him I’ll wait if that’s what it takes
Tell him my love is true,
Others do fade in the shade of his tree
Oh! Willow wisp
Tell him, ‘I do!’

He is ready for journey, Oh! Willow wisp
With someone who cares not a whim
Not like I do, not like I want to,
Oh! Willow wisp
What will become of me?

I am perplexed and anxious
Yet, outside calm as a rising moon,
Inside, raging as the stormy sea
On a bad night in December
When the equinox stares
Right in your face with the truth,
Oh! Willow wisp
What will I do?

Fascinating play with "will-o'-the wisp" and so songful. Perhaps a tune will make it work the spell. Love the playfulness mixed with strong, wistfulness.
