remember
it is you
who stepped
into
my
world
while
i wasn’t looking.

the heat
of a summer’s
night
kisses my lips
as you talk
the talk
of the cowardly
lion ... fasting
off my energy.

don’t jostle
my pain.

let’s just synchronize
our watches
and systematically
walk out the door
separately.
