lost memories by Corey Lockabyshaving cream
blood everywhere
soaked toilet tissue
cold clotting water
flush
creaking joists
comforting jumble
items piled indiscriminately
room glows
bed creaks
thoughts suddenly surge
the light must have flickered
he couldn't remember her expression
after he said the words, he just couldn't remember
was it joy? anger?
he couldn't decide
so when he made it home
he was kicking himself inside
for saying the right thing at the right time
and forgetting why or to what end
nothing left to do but clean the nasty remnants
of the past unkempt week
and then sleep off the internal rage, the
thoughts that made his hands shake, his eyes dart
thoughts that made his
blood boils out
cut cheek cut heart
don't care
not to stop it
it's all over now. 08/19/2007 Posted on 08/20/2007 Copyright © 2025 Corey Lockaby
