Shower of the Stars

by Jacki M Butler

Pitch dark
Lying on a blanket
Stretched across the sand

Becoming one with the darkness
Leaning back and taking it all in
The lights all around become clear

Millions of stars are twinkling
The moon and the planets are aglow
Milky Way becoming more and more clear

Everything seems so still
And suddenly something blazes across the sky
A shooting star, a dying star

Then the sky is at peace
But wait, another, again and again
Until the sky seems it is falling
Til dawn comes and it fades back into light

Author's Note: I love sitting on the beach watching the meteor showers

Such a vivid scene.. you could have just as easily been describing any beach here in Hawaii... aloha

Your beach poems paint me with envy. I like how you become one with what you are observing. Nicely done.
