pond by Corey Lockabypart me
cold and clear i rush
brisk and naked
i have been clouds
the dying maple leaves
caught in last sunset glint
look so much like the
word sailors say, "fire"
when i look from just
beneath my surface
pale, two children sail
paddle a canoe across
my broad mirrored chest
i lovingly guide them
to dusk's deeper shadow
just on the other side 07/17/2007 Posted on 07/18/2007 Copyright © 2025 Corey Lockaby

| Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 07/18/07 at 03:59 AM I love the invitation in the words "part me" and the pond's point of view. I enjoy the reflective nature here, the bringing the sky down to your surface and the lovely interplay with the children. Nicely done. |
