The Message

by Alisa Js

I have stood here on the shores of change
watching from a distance
and listened not to bearers of such news
weaved within the mourning song inside the weeping wind,
I turned my face
clutching ever tighter on the coat
the tide rolled in, yet never reached
and out to sea, again ...

I tried to find a safer place among these jagged rocks
I tried to fly without wings
and felt the scorn of certain feathered friends
I believed as such,
sadly, I am earthbound
without legs,
without a voice
I remain below the sound ...

there was a time before time again
when the eagerness to seek,
a kindly word
a tender touch,
a measure of the seedling's growth
safe, secure
and reaching toward the sun
regeneration's whims ...

and now,
this silent storm on another shore
the voices serenade,
I must face the consequence
of listening to my heart,
of disregarding circumstance
I walk alone,
a start ...

I love the ending. It's got a perfect "fade to black" feel going for it. Very nicely done.
