Connection

by Corey Lockaby

i want to be able to help it
i wish that some things
didn't have to be red
some things
didn't have to be blue

this hurts me like carpet burn
i am to accept it?

in frustration i snap along the corridor
feeling the dim flourescent lights
sunburning me

flASH
BOOM
QUick

get out
outside into the harsher sun

burning my skin like crinoline
a moon darkens and i fail for your
Attn:

lightning; glassy and insubstantial
brews in my hands, between us

i wish it was a connection.
