True Friendship

by Alisa Js

for years they were friends
or so they thought
rolling along with the times,
isn't it funny how crisis
reveals the dross
and other particles that may hide
the true message of the heart
that finally breaks free,
loosed from layers of deceit
or carelessness,
depends on perspective
it's not really funny,
not when you stop
and see it for what it really means ...

at the end of the day
when the cows come home,
the only real friend you can count on
to be there, regardless
is the one
seen in the reflection
of genuine love ...

At the end of any day - we truly only ever have ourselves. We are born to parents, they nurture us or they don't, we live life, or we hide and let life pass us by or we don't. We grow old and at the end of that day - we only have ourselves as bare as the day we were born - and when we look in THAT mirror there is only *US* - We can only ever live for ourselves and not have expectations of others. We are fragile creatures and we often give too much to other people and don't keep enough love and care for ourselves. - A precious insight - to life- I know, I rambled and rambled and rambled.. did I mention Rambled? *lol* *hugs*
