Ring of Fire

by Scott Utley

I walk briskly at first
Then I shuffle sacred boulders between each foot
I teeter at the edge of humanity
On the lips of this cup
Brimming over with exquisite insanity
This wonderful world
A miraculous mathematical equation
And all the earthÂ’s treasures
Are scattered before me
I skirt the precipice
Of this crater we call
The ring of fire
up and over the Bering straight
south west down into the east
down under and up
and over again
jump I jump
a high dive
sky dive
into the heart of the world
I am a skimming stone
On a great
Pond
We call the ring of fire.

Love this! Would that stone happen to have seven eyes?

Whew --I am glad I did not miss this one! I like your geography. And I love the way you're "skimming". Really a wondrous perspective with rich language and breathtaking "up and over"s "into the heart"...

Can't believe I hadn't seen this one. Fantastic POTD! Congrats!

I swept with a glance at first
then lips to brimming cup
sipped the exquisiteness of your
word-orchestration
Envisioning equations and treasures
I skirt precipices jump-dive-dance
into the heart of a wondrous
Potd
You call the Ring of Fire.
