Sunshine and Starlight

by Kim Bennett

Sunshine reveals gardens in the daylight.
Azure sky, liquid sapphire, palm tree.
One beauty, yet suns saturate the night,
infinite and sublime, stars lost at sea.
Breathe beneath the quilted twilight, crisp air,
lay with wide eyes lost in eternity,
The poet and artist, a balanced pair,
needing answers without divinity.
Two hands embracing, the others creating,
swipes of granite, an image invented:
A flower blooms, a love represented.
Ink splashes lined pages, annotating:
“You are my sunshine. You are my starlight.
Forever loved and eternally bright.”

Author's Note: I only wrote two poems prior to the one I wrote recently. They were both for my boyfriend.
