So Many Poems...So Little Time

by Genevieve Sturrock

what does a poet have to do
to get some recognition
so many poems slide by
attracting no attention

i read and post a comment
as often as i'm able
spending even lunch
with my laptop on the table

and when i find a gem
that captures my attention
i duly rate and vote
to give it recognition

how very sad it is
that so few seem to see
all the gems inside
this mountain of poetry

Author's Note: this is not about my own poetry but the wonderful poems i have found here that seem to get little or no recognition.

patience my dear, with everything it is who you know, if you are new just keep reading and commenting and the relationships and consistent readers will grow, just give it time. we have all been where you are, trust me. I have my few closer friends here and that is fine with me. ~JPP

It is the gems that we eventually find in others works, even if we mine slowly though them- that brighten our days or the moments within. Like your this gem - which made me smile, because, within your words is such an earnest care;that, my friend is beautiful. Rhonda.

You are doing the best possible. Whenever there is anything that feels like a mountain... I find that I must do one thing at a time as if it were the only thing in the world, do it well and heartfully, and savor the doing. That transmits, it gets results, and it keeps things from feeling overwhelming. Very important is the savoring of the act itself... not to let it slip by in yourself, don't go on to the next-- without that pleasure... ah, now to your poem-- it has a very sweet sentiment and fine form, a lightness, and nice rhyming that transcends the mountain of a topic! (smiles)
