Wings of Love

by Scott Utley

Dear Lord, please take this pigeon into the loving embrace of your heart of

forgivess. Take her home to your sanctuary in the warmest nest your great tree of

love can provide. I was standing there at the corner of Castro and Market when a

silver sports car halted her winged fight. I took this lovely slate-green bird into

the palms of my hands and place her under a nearby sage bush. Moments later a

yellow trolley car passed. One moment more and the sight of her carcass would have

been profane to the sacred . She is one feathered angel that trolley will never

see. So, once again, thank you Lord, for allowing me to be of some small service

to her. May her wings always flap with your great joy amongst her brothers and

sisters in your great tree of life.
