Won't You?

by Alisa Js

'Another dream,'
He mentioned,
and I thought about those words
'Another dream,'
and I realized a part of me had somehow slipped away, unbeknownst
Before I was made aware,
Slipped away but not forgotten
For dreams serve to give us scope
with hints and clues of certain direction ...

Without a dream we cease to be
Our souls begin to strain
Melded forms of black and white
Blurring into shades of gray,
Smeared upside the canvas of our minds
What's left, if anything ...
A mere vestige of victory's last dance
Blown down that road of circumstance,
Stripped to nothing more
Than hints of something
Somewhere, someone heard before ...

I have seen those without a dream
As they trudge along aimlessly,
Without direction, without a plan
Such a miniscule existence,
Forget smiling, who has time?
Who robbed you?
And sucked the life out from that dream?
Are you sure you have no clue?
The one that gave hope
So very long ago,
Forgotten now,
You carry the weight
For all six billion others,
Sore shoulders bent and bowed so low ...
Catch those dreams
Sliding past before they exit,
Can you even remember,when ?

'Another dream,'
he mentioned,
And I thought about those words
'Another dream,'
And I began to understand
There is a dream that lives in me,
Won't you dream that dream with me?
Let’s take that chance
And find our destiny …
