IN DEFENCE OF KATRINA (ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY) by Terry OlynikVent not your anger
At one named Katrina.
This is a name most fictional,
Bestowed upon our lady Nature
In alphabetical randomness
By some nameless beauracrat,
Who could never know.
She was born
Not of revenge,
Or apocalyptic/biblical intention,
She was birthed
On the trade winds,
And engorged on the gulf's
Equatorial heat.
A hot-breathed,
Low pressure dynamo -
She is Nature,
She does as she pleases-
Since the planet's first spin.
This time,
We got in the way. 08/28/2006 Posted on 08/29/2006 Copyright © 2025 Terry Olynik
