Food for the family of a striking man

I asked of my Mam,
"What's for tea?
Is it beef or lamb?"
She said,"You've the choice
of bread and iffit,
or if you prefer,
There's sugar and shit"
I went for the former,
The choice wasn't tough,
I knew for a fact
