Searching For Love

by Charles E Minshall

I searched Encyclopedias
And dictionaries too,
Searching for the words
To express my love for you.

I read them all
Page after page,
I even read the works
Of sage after sage.

But I guess these words
Will have to do,
The simple words
I do love you.

For there are no words
That I can find,
To tell you of the love
That I have in mind.

The indescribable sweet-spot that love can be. Just trust in the words...and that the words aren't just words! Well put Charlie!

Great structure. And you somehow managed to inject sentimentality without spoiling the verse. Good job.

This gets the loved ones attention any time! Perfect, honest, simple.
And great!
You are always able to pull this off...you and your wonderful muse! —Jill

Simple and distilled, Charlie! That is what it's all about, and that's a poetry form in which you excel! MWAH!

Charlie, how sweet and straightforward. I'm sure whomever you said them to, like Mother Minshall ;-) enjoys hearing them without end.
