Whale Watching

by Ken Harnisch

In mad caprice we dance

To the music of the stars

Then go strolling on the beach

To watch the whales

In their mad mating rituals.

You say you want to swim

And I say we need the boat

You say the whales make no plans

Before their Diaspora, and I say

To them it is predestination

You say I’m too cautious

And I reply that could be:

But the brain God gave me

Is oft times just a medley

Of flashing lights and sirens

Tonight, it inhibits swimming with

The pods that frolic in the sea

Living with opposites is marvellous - one throws caution to the wind, the other catches it and holds tight as if to a lifebelt - I liked how this poem reflects this within a shell of wonderful words and use of language - good work! _ _ Jimmy

I sat here marvling at the whole piece, and more at the emotions it engenders within me, the memories it brings back. Gratefuly I say ... Thank You Poetman... for having the courage to look within and pen the words and emotions you find there. How often life brings this out in us, the caution when faced with abandon... *grin*.. How often it brings out abandon, when faced with caution, and how wonderful a world it is because of both!
