On Being Saturday's P.O.T.D.

by Terry Olynik

Having just received
A congratulatory message
For one of my works
Being selected POTD,
My heart quickly sank
When I saw which poem was so honored.
Of course - the infamous
Alphabet Wars!

Just one more cheap stunt
By the ever more desperate SCHLBM's
To draw me into the open.
If I didn't fall for
"The trail o' beer" ruse,
The land shark telegram
Or the "Salma Hayek here to see you" gambit,*
I'm not falling for this transparent ploy.

I write this from an undisclosed, fortified location,
Obviously away from my home computer
(Which at this point is no doubt booby trapped).
Ensconced with my fellow "O" homies,
Enjoined by the "X"s, the "I"s, and the "U"s,
We refine and finalize our plans
For a wholesale SCHLBM overthrow.
Power to the QUOIXYZ!!! (?)

*admittedly, that one almost worked.

"Things fall apart; the center cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity.." Yeats

You can't hide forever Terry. We know you come out for beer. And can you really trust that pizza delivery guy? -signed, the killer B's
