Grandma's Cry For Help by Amanda BullingtonThere's a movement in the corner:
She backs away; there's a creature
That fills her with surprise.
There's a fragment of her mind watching
Her darkest days; there's a thousand
Rainclouds brewing in black skies.
Her children are frightened. Do they
See the Rain? No. Do they see her demons?
No again. Then can they help her in the
Fight of her life? Well...we'll see.
"There's another spirit dwelling here,"
She tells them, "there's an evil being
Filling me with Fear. Then her children
Drag her off to see a doctor, who
Pretends the way to end her pain is clear.
Her children are mollified. Do they see
the Rain? No. Do they see her demons?
No again. But this time, they have found
A way to help her shut out the evil.
Time passes.
There's no movement, no creatures,
Nothing to frighten her. Her children
Have all moved away. Nothing fills her
With danger, but likewise, nothing
Fills her with hope. None of her
Children will visit, and the woman,
Growing older, just sits in silence
Until the end of her days. 07/18/2005 Posted on 10/19/2005 Copyright © 2025 Amanda Bullington

Great write. This is a very powerful mesaage to anyone with family, specailly a grandma. It sure isn't right, she has her own child and they moved away and won't come to visit. Your grandma is giving up hope. Her demon is: She doesn't want to die alone. She wants to see her children too. I hope and pray your family does go and visit her. I have no grandma's or grandpas anymore. I regret, I didn't get to see them more often. |
