Silk Flowers

by Corey Lockaby

I'm feeling subtle,
but you caress my mood
Acknowledging the slight tug of guilt
Like the tide up to your knees,
pulling,
pulling you out to sea

Long, slimy
Seaweed bonds
Hold back my heart, keeping my tears at bay
Even though you have a natural beauty,
as if nobody cares for this fine spun article,
tiny threads and rich-made dyes

Perhaps there's a few silk flowers in
Your un-tended garden

I'm feeling beneath,
but you hold my emotions
Ignoring the pangs of guilt
Like a swarm of bees,
stinging,
distracting you from reality

Author's Note: I hope this was as clear as I meant it. This came to me through a slight rework of a stanza from a failed verse, which is always satisfying.
