To Morgan

by Uriel Tovar

You said the cheese would melt
evenly on the roll--
it bubbled and crusted over;
the edges were burnt and useless.

I pulled it out of the oven
expecting something grand
but i burnt my tongue.

You laughed
as i iced it down.
