Delicate Web

by S.J. Tyler

I drift from you
And it’s not exactly terrible
You’re confident
That it’s not the worst thing
And I know you’re right

But I miss it either way

I used to be able to spin stories,
Settings and such stuff
But just like our friendship
Things seem like dust,
Scattered all over
Visible to the eye
But not to the hand,
Who has trouble collecting each wisp
And putting a mass back together again

So I can’t weave anymore
My imagination is lost
To my naked eye
And my hand never could see it anyway
Blind and clumsy as it is

But my hand can probably repair
Dusting off what we’ve got
So that I can see clear
And move on from there
With a web
So I can keep what there was
And show you what we have to look forward to
