the greatest choice i ever made by Michele Schottelkorbinto the perfect mist of life, two angels cried blood tears
for their wings were broken; tattered, mangled messes.
swirling in chaotic fantasies, through glazed faces,
they blinked a lifetime of misery away in mere moments.
trials, however, were not to end, just yet, for these war-weary travelers
half a decade laced with tests of will, character and strength.
pain and strife and demons of old would plague the hearts of this blissful union
demanding attention from the blossom of true love.
and if the fiends had obtained their wish, the two would have descended
from grace a thousands times over, butÂ…
an unfathomable sacred trust had buried itself deep within the core of destiny
and perseverance proved a much too difficult adversary for immorality to maintain.
so now, in the sunshine of our middle years, i place my hand in yours
i covet that which is justly mine, and realize i need want no longer
for despite hardships untold, and foes conquered
in spite of a hardened world that would tear our lives asunder
we have triumphed, my precious, most dearest heart
and, at the end of a long hard day, the sweetest kiss belongs to me
the beautiful voice that sings is tethered to my very soul
and our adventures are just beginningÂ…
and, to be true
with every adversity that flies our way, three times three, blessed we be
our riches far outnumber our losses, proliferated by infinity
the air is more enchanting, the ocean more calming, the earth more adoring
life more worth living
every second my existence is bonded to yours.
today i declare with utter resolve
the greatest choice i ever made
was you.

This is perhaps one of the most beautiful lines I have ever read. Truly a triumph in love. Congratulations on your anniversary and may your days of happiness be blessed and filled with joy for all the days of your lives. |
