slipping

by Michele Schottelkorb

we are sinking

                falling fast

into this abyss

(grasp onto the muddy embankment, i dare you)

trite words, emotionless kisses

and i’ll be damned if the house isn’t a mess

                                      again

my end of the bargain is slipping

(i need better shoes)

I like how you take us from embankments to the everydayness of the house. Very powerful.

Wow, a little nervewrecking for a newlywed! hahahah. This is a wonderful poem, as said above short but powerful and lasting. Great read!
