Monsters

by S.J. Tyler

Silhouettes on the pavement
the light is coming from behind
so I can only see silhouettes
there is a delicacy to them
those figures walking and standing outside
but I fear they might transform
into scragglier forms of monsters
angled, jutting things from my nightmares
and I will be an easy target
for I can’t see their true faces
but the light shines clearly on mine

nice imagery, and i love the last line. what a punch in the gut. i was curious though, what is the impetus for fear that the silhouettes will turn into monsters? i don't need to know, so much as to feel some tension and terror....

Fascinating shadows throughout this piece. Killer last two lines. Kudos!

Yes, the contrast is so evident, so nicely produced and presented. One can not see their true faces where as they can. We are the targets.
