He is in us by Amy NiggelI've been told
we need to censor what we see
what we let influence our lives.
That some things are intrinsically evil
and bad
and not fit for human consumption.
I've learned
that all churches
are really cults
who's only purpose is to deny us the pleasures we crave
Sex is wrong till you're married,
violence is only ok if the church is behind it,
rock and roll is the devil in song form.
I've been unsure what I believe,
I've seen so many takes on Him and His word.
I've looked
for MY G_d
the one I believed in,
who had no physical form
or speech in human tounges
or anger towards us
or hatred of us
or malevolance for us.
The one who created such a wonderful place for us to dwell,
who gave us His only son
to save us from our mistakes.
The one who created us from the dust
and loves us depite our humble beginings.
I have found no single church that could contain Him
because He belongs to every church
to all people
even those who don't believe it
and won't see it for what it is.
He is in everything,
the love we make,
the world we see and destroy,
the lives we affect and change.
He is in us,
for we are His. 02/01/2004 Author's Note: From athiest, to agnostic, to church with Steph, to confusion to Catholicism... what a long strange trip its been...Still constantly seeking to define and redefine what my religion means to me, and always learning more of what it means to be a Catholic and a Christian.
