Khaki Shorts by Ken Harnisch
Amazing stories I have told
To women dressed in khaki
Shorts, loose around the waist
And wrinkled at the thighs
I have seen the smiles of angels
And weighed the intent of devils
On my unbalanced scales. The
Devils weigh the most, it seems
I once looked up to love as I would
The sun. But the sun still shines in
The mornings while life continues on
Without the passion as accompaniment
I lean across the table and tell my
Tales, the ones of angels and devils
And love gone awry. The women
In the shorts still sigh. They know. 01/16/2004 Posted on 01/16/2004 Copyright © 2025 Ken Harnisch

| Posted by Kate Demeree on 01/21/04 at 06:05 AM I love the next to last verse...it seems to jump right out at me from the page... I think that verse could stand all on it's own and is indeed pure poetry... *BRAVO* |
