Red Dreams* by S.J. TylerI just woke
From a red dream
Light that seeped through
Filters of capillaries
Staining my rapid fire thoughts
A deep blood
Lusty dual-tone dramas unfolding
Before my very eyelids
Red and black
Cartoonesque impossibilities
Hit me like a two ton anvil
Or a piano dropped from an unknown cliff
Smashed me flap as a pancake
Only to see red stars
And feel the throb of blood in my brain
Heated by the color
That grows more alive as I drift
The sun shall rise
Says the light seeping into my eyes
Alive!
Tiny brick figures with mallets chase me
Wake up! Wake up! they cry
Where have those mallets come from,
So soon since Ive slipped into slumber?
So quickly have I entered this world
Since Ive closed my eyes
A history has unfolded before my very eyelids
So soon it seems
But I protested too much
As the red became orange
Soon a blinding yellow/white light
My eyes opened now
See an unfertile world of multicolor
Dead with logic and the possible
Until tonight
My red dreams are dead
