Hibernating Through My Winter

by S.J. Tyler

I’m dormant this month
The cold has chased me into my hole
And here I’ll stay until it is safe to return
I need a good hibernation
My relations with others just keep going stale
I probably need a fresh start
I could shut myself off
Until every one of them loses patience
And stops trying
Then come back out of my hole
And start over
With new faces
I like that idea
Because the world outside is far too cold right now
I should just wait until something warmer
More welcoming
Comes by
And the cold leaves
Taking all those whom I’ve bored
Or pained
Or otherwise pushed away

I’ll just wait it out until spring
Not just a month but the whole season
I’ll go to sleep
And when I wake up
It will be a completely new world
Like Dorothy opening her door to Munchkinland for the very first time
That’s what I’ll do
And then maybe I’ll find myself a wizard
Who’ll make all my witches come true.
