you're not my mom

by Michele Schottelkorb

"you're not my mom"

"power trip bitch"

"I do not have to obey you, go fuck yourself"

28 going on 48

I did not ask for this

wanted:

walks in the park

skipping in the front yard

giggling under a blanket with a toddler

kisses at sunset on a beach

got:

a stolen wrecked automobile

acid on my bathroom floor

police at my door at 1am

lies and deceit and pain

and not even a goddamn thank you...

Author's Note: i have totally and completely had it... and if i hear "you're not my mom" ONE more time, i am going to implode...

I tell my step daughter that it's not about being a "step" family, it's about being decent human beings to one another. And that's the same thing I say to my flesh and blood children. Living in these times just plain sux sometimes, but I'm sorry you are having to go through this.

Whoa. That must be a real wake up call. 1:AM... I've only had the police come to my house... er, I mean, oh never mind. I hope things change so that you don't implode.

Ouch! Pretty intense piece, well worthy of its inspiration I'd say.
