There's me

by Aaron Howard

Even if addiction isn't in my family, I know I'm a junkie
Just some long hair, acid popping flunky.
I'm not someone who has a brain or any insight
I not the one who's worried about tonight.
I not the one with my finger on the red button
and I'm not the one eating like a overripe glutton.
I'm not the one selling the souls of the Mexicans
or the one feeding Alka-Seltzer to pelicans.
So why don't you just cut us all some slack
since you won't admit any of the things you lack.
You brazenly commit these harmful acts
and then put that knife in our backs.
You bend us over but no reach around
and then you bury us 6 feet underground.
You lie to us with facts and smile in delight
and you love to see me try to pick a fight.
You smile in disgust as you rape me whole
and your bitter over not owning my soul.
You have my mind and my body, what more do you want
Or is just control the only thing you choose to flaunt?
Since you can trick us into the pledge of allegiance
since they brainwash you when you have no intelligence.
For amber waves of grain that the farmer can't sell
Since the bank came and sold his equipment and his well.
So how can you say all's fair in the land of the free
Since maybe you are free, but least of all there's me..
