Secret to keep

by Aaron Howard

Another night of Tina hanging around.
Turning me out with her little pink gown.
She runs through my veins like a freight train
and if I chill with her too long I go insane.
I can't sleep when she whispers in my ear
and she hides the little inner fear.
She tells me I'm the man and I'm her own
and the haze wears off to nothing shown.
She lies to me and keeps me awake.
God Tina, go away for goodness sake.
You tell me of ways to express myself
and way to stuff my soul on a shelf.
You teach me to be a big headed ass
and you teach me that it's bad to smoke grass.
You tell me of new lingo like Speed balling
and then go into a paragraph about free falling.
So what's it going to be? You going to give up now?
Since you don't know when and you don't know how?
Do you give up before you even know your hand
Or is that just something you can't understand?
Are the big words scary to your naive eyes
or do you just smile like you found the best surprise?
Do you come to love yourself when your drifting off to sleep
Or do you find yourself with just another secret to keep?
