Rain on sand by Aaron Howard
I sit under the harbor at night.
Hiding away from even the pale moonlight
Sitting here in the sand.
Feeling waves with my hand.
The crabs running their path
while the tides do their math.
While the waves ravage the land
and the sound is made by rain on sand.
The chant of the waves before a storm
and the things that differ from the norm.
The beach is a haven from the everyday.
A place where I could choose to stay.
Sitting here in the moonlit rain
wondering why some people think I'm insane.
Them with their homes and wealth
and me here on the beach with my mental health.
I don't know who's richer and who's poor
just that they keep wanting it more.
I just sit here and enjoy my simple delight
of sitting here till the late night.
Sitting on the edge of the moist sand
Listening to the peaceful rain on sand.
