Quit wading around

by Aaron Howard

The asphalt under my feet as I'm leaving town
since it seems this place always pulls me down.
I'm leaving this self-made hell that I myself have made
and to forget about all those murky waters in which that I wade.
I pass up all the choices I've failed to make
since I've decided that I need a break.
No more drugs to fill that void lingering within
and to forget about that once shed skin.
Leaving on a jet plane to forget my past
and to leave behind that love that didn't last.
