Purple clouds by Aaron HowardHearing the rustle of the water under the pale moon skies.
Seeing the twinkle of the shooting stars in your wide eyes.
The way you smiled in that purple glow of city light.
When the clouds reflected the orange glow back from the night.
We thought of time as a fleeting thing
and when you used to get drunk and sing.
You used to throw you arms around my neck and hold on tight.
When you were so close, was the only time I felt right.
You made me complete and whole in one
and around you I could sit back and still have fun.
You taught me how to live and how to lose it all
and how to try to get back up after a disastrous fall.
How to pick up the pieces and take them back home.
You taught me how to love and how to really be alone.
You told me you would call and you never did
but I'm sure I didn't make a high enough bid
on your heart or my idea of love.
When I should have held you in front and above.
I guess we all have stupidity in our past.
I guess it's just how long we really want it to last.
You can't look back on the past and smile
when you decided to quit on loves miracle mile.
I don't regret wheat I did even though I'm sad.
It's just that before you things didn't turn out so bad.
After you, times were romantic, not just a date for a night
and we could never find a real reason to fight.
I don't know what planet you came from or the name of your race
but since then, there hasn't been a wider smile on my face.
