Knot in the wood; A by Aaron Howard
You stare away from it all.
Staring at the grain in the wall.
You let the words pass right through
and consider life anew.
You ponder it all in a daydream
while your parents continue to scream.
You heal the booming voices in the far
as you drive downtown in the family car.
You hear your mom cry a time a week
and you go days without wanting to speak.
You rest your head to pass the time
and think of the emotional crime.
You stress about it all the while.
Letting it build up into a big festering pile.
Living with your hatred and stress
making you more and more depressed.
A knife in the back comes from close
so know who you love the most.
