Just something new

by Aaron Howard

I've been so closed hearted for so long
but since I've met you, those feelings are an old song...
You've opened the door to my soul and heart
and this is merely just the start.
The start of something beautiful, the start of a friendship
and into this ocean of love, I've decided to take a dip.
I've basked in your stare from across that crowded nation
and sat there and read your favorite quotation.
I've seen you smile in your cracked out state
and to my old ways, you've cleaned my slate.
I've always been so recluse from love it's a shame
but when you showed up, you rewrote the rules to the game.
You showed me what you really held dear
and I saw everything I loved and someone to whom I could be near.
Even though I'm over 400 miles away
I still long to be near you everyday.
I never knew out of this flower bed of life, love would grow
So I sit back here with your special book and enjoy the show.
I see all the things in you that I hold most dear
and never has something been so open and clear.
Never have I felt so attached to someone so fast
and never like this have I wanted something to last.
I've seen the puppet show and I've seen the strings
and I've seen the surface to which all the emotions that it brings.
I've never spoke of love in such a short while
and I've never seen someone smile with such style.
I've always wanted what I couldn't have for my own
but I'm so ecstatic over these emotions that have grown.
I've never looked forward in anticipation to something shiny and new
and in my heart your love is now here, that I never really knew grew.
