The anticipation of truth
rose to climax
like headlights through the fog.
Slowly approaching,
the harsh beams still shocked.

Turned to systematic necessity,
we knew the honeymoon was over.
The gleaming silver
never developed that rich patina,
but tarnished so quickly.

A szfortsando of emotions
quickly faded to silence;
we tried to ride its wave
but dropped like dominoes
in a race to the end.
